Thank you for wanting to learn more about us. Alpine Rafting began running commercial Whitewater Rafting trips on the Kicking Horse River in 1984. Being one of the pioneers of Whitewater Rafting on the Kicking Horse we’ve learned a number of things over the years. We’ve seen our rafts go from cumbersome units requiring constant bailing to light, responsive self-bailing rafts.
We now use fancy fabrics like Gore-Tex and Hypalon. We’ve watched the evolution of rafting right here on our own river. These progressions have allowed people to enjoy whitewater rafting in greater safety and comfort. One of the most important things we’ve learned over the years is that some things change very little. We are proud to say that over the last 23 years, the most important aspect for us has been the customer experience. We are here to show you a great day out on the water. Your adventure down the Kicking Horse River will be one you will remember and recount tall tales of for many years. Are you ready to join us?
A WORD ON SAFETY
Since 1984, we’ve guided over 90,000 people down the Kicking Horse River. With this many years in operation comes experience. From our fleet of rafts to our selection of trips: we’ve spent the last 23 years honing the experience we provide. We hand-pick our staff from around the globe. Due to the nature of the Kicking Horse and our high standards, we only place you in the care of professional, mature, and very experienced raft guides.
You won’t find a guide-in-training in your raft when joining us for a day on the river. The average age of our guides is 32 years of age, with an average of 8 years guiding experience--ensuring life experience and river expertise. Our Guides are serious about the work they do, and receive annual in-house training from the River Manager and Owner. They are all certified Swiftwater Rescue Technicians and hold Wilderness First Aid Certificates.
